Global Rights Nigeria Begins Recruitment of Police Duty Solicitors for SGBV Survivors

Global Rights Nigeria has opened applications for new job opportunities aimed at supporting survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). The non-governmental organization, known for its work in human rights and governance capacity building, is hiring Police Duty Solicitors to be stationed in key communities across Kaduna, Kano, and Sokoto States.

The engagement, which will last eight months from August 2025 to March 2026, is designed to strengthen access to justice for vulnerable groups. In a statement, the organization explained that “Police Duty Solicitors will provide free, timely, and rights-based legal assistance to survivors of SGBV at designated police stations.” They added that the roles will also include advocacy and coordination with justice sector stakeholders to guarantee that survivors receive both legal and psychosocial support.

Qualification requirements include:
i. Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (BL); applicants must be called to the Nigerian Bar.
ii. At least 3 years of post-call experience, preferably in criminal law, human rights, or legal aid practice.
iii. Experience working with SGBV survivors or vulnerable groups is considered an advantage.
iv. Good knowledge of Nigerian criminal justice systems, with emphasis on gender justice.
v. Fluency in English and Hausa.
vi. Strong oral and written communication skills.
