Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has revealed plans to recruit 12,000 young people into the state civil service before the end of 2025. He made this known while receiving the Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), who visited him at the Government House in Yola.
According to the Governor, “We are targeting 12,000 fresh recruits into the civil service by December next year. Out of these, 5,000 will be teachers, while 2,000 healthcare workers, including doctors and nurses, will join the Health Services Management Board.”
He further explained that the current recruitment process, which initially aimed to hire 4,000 civil servants, was expanded after further assessment. “When reports showed that more vacancies existed, I directed that an additional 1,000 be recruited, raising the total to 5,000,” Fintiri said.
The Governor also shared plans to establish a School of Technology and Entrepreneurship, aimed at preparing young people with practical and digital skills for the future. He credited his administration’s progress to “prudent leadership,” stating that “Adamawa is now one of the top five most developed states in Nigeria.”
Speaking on recent flooding incidents, Fintiri addressed public concerns by clarifying, “The Dam in Fufore is not the cause of the flood. We are taking steps to prevent future disasters by removing illegal structures blocking our waterways.”
He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the education sector, pointing to improved standards in schools and better student outcomes.
The Governor encouraged the Christian women to support his government with prayers and promised to continue promoting fairness, equity, and security.
Mrs Helen James, the Chairperson of WOWICAN in Adamawa, praised Governor Fintiri for his efforts. “We came to thank you for your inclusive governance. Women now hold sensitive positions, and the state is witnessing visible development,” she said, promising the association’s continued support.
