The Federal Government has confirmed that the long-anticipated forest guard recruitment will soon begin across the country as part of the Renewed Hope agenda aimed at boosting national security.

National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu disclosed this while speaking in Abuja at the inauguration of 46 new operational vehicles distributed to key security commands and formations. He explained that he had just attended a programme to kick off the establishment of the forest guard system.

President Bola Tinubu had, on May 15, approved the creation of the National Forest Guard as part of new strategies to address insecurity, directing each state to employ between 2,000 and 5,000 personnel depending on capacity. Although 11 states had earlier set up forest guard units with different names, most have yet to expand or equip them to meet the federal security objectives.

Ribadu noted that the programme was one of several measures being implemented to protect Nigeria’s natural reserves and ensure safer communities. “I tell you that what lies ahead is leadership that will transform and better Nigeria as part of the Renewed Hope agenda. I’m happy. Whenever things are improving in our country, the opportunity to be part of it is something we are all proud of and grateful to God for,” he said.

He added, “Every day, something is happening—it is having a massive impact, and we are witnessing it daily. I’m just coming from an event to start the process of the forest guards. Every single day in our work, something new happens. Maybe quietly and silently, but it is happening.”

Reassuring Nigerians, Ribadu said the country’s affairs were in safe hands. “Nigeria is handled very well and properly. And we can assure you that we will deliver. We never know what failure is, and this time also, you will see the result of the work we put in, inshallah.”

The National Security Adviser also urged security operatives to remain dedicated to their duties, stressing the need to “go after the bad people” and maintain peace and order.

With this development, interested applicants are advised to prepare their CVs and documents as official recruitment details from the Federal Government are expected to be released soon.
