Gombe State begins recruitment of 2000 personnel into GOSTEC

The Gombe State Government has announced the commencement of recruitment into the Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC), with approval for 2000 new positions. The decision comes after Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, signed the GOSTEC law, officially establishing the corps as a permanent institution charged with traffic management, environmental protection and community safety across the state.

Speaking on the development, the Director-General of GOSTEC, ACP Bappa Ibrahim (Rtd), confirmed that the recruitment is aimed at engaging qualified indigenes of the state into different categories. “This initiative reflects the governor’s vision to empower youths and strengthen the security and environmental structure of Gombe,” he explained.

The available cadres are as follows:
i. Officer Cadre – Degree or HND Holders
ii. Middle Cadre – NCE or OND Holders
iii. Junior Cadre – Secondary School Certificate Holders

Interested candidates must provide a handwritten application, copies of academic qualifications, and a letter of recommendation from either a Ward Head, District Head, Local Government Chairman, or Divisional Police Officer. All submissions are to be made at Local Government Headquarters.

The recruitment process will open on Friday, 19th September, 2025, and close on Friday, 26th September, 2025. Authorities stressed that late applications will not be considered.

Governor Yahaya described the exercise as part of broader reforms to professionalize GOSTEC and create opportunities for young people while improving public order and efficient service delivery in Gombe State.
