The Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has alerted the public over reports that some newly employed teachers are being asked to pay money during documentation at Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs).

In its reaction, the Board disowned such actions, stressing that the process does not require any form of payment. “No staff of SUBEB or any LGEA has been authorized to collect money for the recruitment process. As it is completely free of charge,” the Board stated.

SUBEB called on teachers undergoing documentation not to yield to financial demands from anyone, warning that such requests are fraudulent. The Board also reassured that it will continue to enforce transparency and accountability in all procedures linked to teacher recruitment.

It added that the ultimate goal is to safeguard the integrity of the system and strengthen the delivery of basic education in Benue State.
