The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE), an Afreximbank initiative in partnership with King’s College Hospital, London, has announced a massive recruitment drive aimed at attracting both clinical and non-clinical professionals. The centre, which is focused on delivering world-class, patient-centred care in Africa, says this move will contribute to shaping the future of healthcare across the continent.
According to the management, the recruitment presents an opportunity to work alongside leading medical experts, utilise advanced medical technology, and make a tangible difference in the lives of patients. “We are looking for passionate professionals to join our world-class team as we shape the future of healthcare in Africa,” a spokesperson said.
The available positions include:
i. Consultant Cardiologist
ii. Consultant Oncologist
iii. Consultant Intensivist
iv. Urology/Cystoscopy Surgeon
v. Nephrologist
vi. Consultant Interventional Cardiologist
vii. Internal Medicine Physician
viii. Gastrointestinal Surgeon & Endoscopist
ix. Head of Pharmacy
x. Laboratory Scientist – Molecular Genetics Laboratory
xi. Rotational Nurse
xii. Medical Officer
xiii. Medical Librarian
xiv. Medical Library Assistant
The general requirements for these roles are as follows:
i. Medical degree from an accredited institution
ii. Completion of residency/fellowship (for some vacancies)
iii. Board certification or eligibility in a relevant field of study from a recognized body
iv. Valid medical license in home country and eligibility for professional registration
v. Certification in relevant field of study
vi. Minimum 2 to 10 years’ experience (depending on the job role)
vii. Exposure to or practice in resource-limited healthcare settings
viii. Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and the ability to implement quality improvement initiatives
ix. Ability to accurately diagnose and manage a wide range of critical illnesses,
x. Proficiency in using medical equipment
xi. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities
