August 7, 2025 – The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has warned the public that it has not yet released any list of shortlisted candidates for its ongoing recruitment. This comes after a wave of viral messages on social media claiming that shortlisted names are already out for the four paramilitary agencies under its control.

In a clear statement addressing applicants, the Board said, “We are yet to commence shortlisting. The portal is still collecting applications until Monday 11th August 2025. Please note that the recruitment process is absolutely free at all stage.”

The fake message currently being shared falsely claims that applicants have been shortlisted and must pay a clearance fee. The fraudulent email reads:

“You have been shortlisted as a suitable candidate after a review of your CV/application submitted recently, your name and academic discipline has been recorded successfully and this is solely sent to you for your replacement job vacancy at the CDCFIB and your consultancy clearance would determine your posting letter for employment at any of the four (4) agencies.”

It also falsely instructs applicants to pay NGN1,250.00 as clearance to a so-called “Federal Government Human Resource Consultant.”

“Pay to the Account Detail as indicated to a revenue collection officer the sum of NGN1,250.00 (One Thousand Two Hundred And Fifty Naira Only) as your competitive clearance for your posting and provisional offer of appointment at the CDCFIB”, the fake message adds.

The Board has advised candidates to disregard such communications and avoid falling victim to scams. “Beware of fraudsters,” the statement warned.

The CDCFIB confirmed that once the shortlist is ready, applicants will be notified through its official website and trusted platforms. Any circulating shortlist PDF or related messages should be ignored for now.

Applicants are reminded that recruitment into federal government jobs like this remains free of charge and that any demand for payment is a scam.
