Qualifications for Academic Staff

I. Graduate Assistant: Candidates must hold a first degree in a relevant field from the University of Maiduguri or any other recognized institution, with at least a Second-Class Upper Division. An NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate is also required.
II. Assistant Lecturer: Applicants must have a master’s degree from a recognized institution, or a first degree with Second-Class Upper Division plus professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, BL, MBBS/BDS, DVM/BVM, B.Pharm, or NSE/COREN, depending on the field. Candidates must also exhibit good conduct in line with the university’s code.
III. Lecturer II: This role requires a master’s degree from a recognized institution, a minimum of three years post-qualification experience, and a relevant professional certificate. Good conduct in line with the university’s expectations is also required.
IV. Lecturer I: A master’s degree holder must have served as Lecturer II for at least three years and possess four years of teaching experience along with a minimum of 16 research publication points. Alternatively, a recognized higher postgraduate fellowship or passing Part 1 of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria is acceptable.
V. Senior Lecturer: Candidates must hold a PhD or its equivalent and have served as Lecturer I for three years. A minimum of five years of teaching and postgraduate supervision experience is expected. Applicants should have at least 32 publication points, including 12 since their last promotion.

Qualifications for Non-Teaching Staff

  1. Nurse (General Nursing Officer): Requires a B.NSc., registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), and an NYSC certificate.
  2. Medical Laboratory Technologist: HND or B.Tech in a relevant field, a current license, and an NYSC certificate.
  3. Registrar (Medical Officer): Applicants must have an MBBS and be registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), plus NYSC certification.
  4. Principal Information Officer: This post requires a BA or BSc in related fields such as Journalism, Mass Communication, or Linguistics. A minimum of nine years of experience and membership in a professional body is required.
  5. Accountant I: Requires a BSc in Accounting with at least six years of experience.
  6. Accountant II: BSc in Accounting with a minimum of three years of work experience and an NYSC certificate.
  7. Engineer I: A B.Eng. degree with three years of cognate experience and registration with COREN is needed.
  8. Engineer II: A B.Eng. degree, NYSC certificate, and registrability with COREN are required.
  9. Confidential Secretary: An HND in Secretarial Studies with six years of experience, and skills in ICT, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  10. Instructor: A BA/HND in a relevant field with NYSC certification.
  11. Programme Analyst II: BSc or HND in Computer Science or Informatics, two years of programming experience, and registrability with a professional body.
  12. Education Officer: A Bachelor’s Degree in Education and an NYSC certificate.
  13. Clinical Instructor (Faculty of Law): Must have LLB and BL, and five years of related experience.
