The Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission has completed its online examination stage in the ongoing recruitment exercise, aimed at offering employment opportunities to 1,000 qualified Bayelsans. This recruitment, officially announced on March 4, 2025, attracted over 36,750 applicants competing for various positions in the state Civil Service.
For the first time in the state’s history, the commission implemented an online examination system.
This digital approach allowed candidates to participate in the recruitment test from their homes, ensuring convenience and reducing logistical challenges.
According to the commission, this innovation was introduced to enhance fairness, transparency, and accessibility for all applicants across Bayelsa State.
Candidates who were successful in the online test are now being invited for oral interviews. Many of those shortlisted have expressed satisfaction with the process so far.
A candidate at the interview center shared, “This process has been seamless and very fair. I’m happy the commission introduced this method. It shows they care about transparency and giving everyone a fair chance.”
Several others echoed similar sentiments, with many praising the state government’s commitment to improving the civil service sector and creating employment. One applicant said, “I thank His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri for lifting the embargo on employment. This is a big opportunity for young people like me.”
The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission, Hon. Perekiye Buruboyefe, acknowledged the massive interest shown by applicants.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Bayelsa for believing in the process. “We are committed to making sure that only qualified, capable, and deserving candidates are recruited. Everything is being done with transparency and integrity,” he said.
Hon. Buruboyefe also applauded Governor Diri’s role in making the exercise possible. “We appreciate His Excellency for lifting the embargo on employment. This recruitment will go a long way in reducing youth unemployment and giving people a chance to build a career in the civil service,” he added.
Bayelsans have also applauded the Commission for introducing a reliable online system, which not only streamlined the recruitment process but also helped cut costs for many applicants.
This digital strategy has been seen as a significant step toward modern governance in the state.
As the oral interviews continue, many residents remain hopeful. The general expectation is that the final selection will reflect merit and dedication, setting a new standard for employment processes in Bayelsa State.
